Calibration Nightmares…
16 February 2009 | by kyle

So like I mentioned in the weekly update, I’ve been playing around with boundaries in WiiFlash so that you physically can’t look too far up/down/left/right while using headtracking. I managed to get this pretty much down through a bunch of trial and error and just tweaking some numbers. Just when I thought I had everything going good, I came back and reset everything up today only to find that everything was completely off from how it was yesterday. It turns out that everything is pretty picky on the location of the IR when it first starts up, and bases most of the calibration off of that. Basically if the WiiMote is a few inches off after you initially set it up, it messes everything up. Here are some screen shots:

Calibrated perfectly:

Looking to the right:

This was the new ‘center’ I found when I reset everything up:
broken

I have a feeling this is going to cause trouble…we some how need to make everything relative to one position…but I’m not sure how. I’ll keep investigating…
